We have discovered a novel biotin-binding protein from the Tamogitake mushroom, one of edible mushrooms, through JT's study of antifungal proteins, and named Tamavidin.
Tamavidin shows a very strong binding with biotin, as does avidin or streptavidin widely used as a research tool. Thus, Tamavidin can be used in numerous applications of the avidin-biotin technology.
